Friendly Fivers keeps score of friendly bets between people who know each other. No real money is involved: bets are made in buckos, a play currency that exists only inside the app, can't be bought and can't be cashed out. This page explains what the app stores and why.
What we store
- Your account: the name you choose, your email address and your password, stored only as a secure one-way hash.
- Your profile: the icon you pick, and what you've earned or bought in the shop with buckos.
- What you do in the app: your groups, the bets you make or join, results, the buckos won and lost on them, comments and reactions.
- Notifications: if you turn them on, the address your phone gives us for sending them.
- Sign-in protection: failed sign-in attempts, new accounts and password-reset requests (the email tried, the internet address it came from and when), kept for up to a day to stop password guessing and bulk sign-ups.
- Your time zone: saved in a small cookie so dates show as your own day.
We don't collect your location, contacts, photos or payment details, and there are no ads or tracking.
How it's used
Only to run the app: showing your bets and standings to the people in your groups, and sending you notifications you've turned on. People in your groups can see your name, icon, player card, bets and results. Nobody outside your groups can.
We never sell your data or share it for advertising.
Who else handles it
The app runs on Vercel (hosting) and Neon (database), which store data on our behalf and protect it under their own security and privacy terms. Notifications are delivered through your phone or browser maker's notification service, such as Apple's.
When you write a new bet, its wording and your time zone go through Vercel's AI Gateway to AI models (TypeSafe AI and Perplexity) to suggest when it will be decided, and team names are looked up in ESPN's public schedules. After a game, its final score from ESPN and the bet's wording go to the same AI service to suggest who won, and “Check the result” looks a bet up on the web the same way. Nothing else about you is sent, and suggestions are kept for a few hours so the same bet isn't looked up twice.
Keeping and deleting it
We keep your data while you have an account. You can delete your account at any time in Profile → Account settings → Delete account. That erases your name, email, password, icon, wallet and everything bought with it, removes your comments, reactions and notification settings, takes you out of your groups and calls off offers you haven't shaken on. Bets that already happened stay in your friends' history under “Deleted user”, so their records stay accurate.
You can turn notifications off whenever you like in the same settings.
Questions about your data: email support@fivers.bet.
Who it's for
Friendly Fivers is for adults (18 and over). It isn't meant for children and we don't knowingly collect their data.
